Product Description

2006-2015 Mazda MX5 NC

“When you are ready for the best”

NC Xidas are a clean sheet design specifically for high performance use in the NC (third-generation) MX5. Over four years of development, many prototypes, hundreds of hours of road/track testing, fabrication and engineering work. They are unlike virtually all other NC coilover options. Most others are an existing Asian sourced kit slightly re-worked or a 38mm piston lightweight ATV shock. NC Xida are the only true pro motorsport level shock specifically developed for the NC by a multi-time national championship winning race and engineering team.

NC Xida offer far greater stroke and bump travel than any other two piece coilover on the market, by a huge margin. Our proprietary inverted rear shock design allows about 30mm greater bump travel than the next closest one piece NC shock. Nearly one inch more rear bump travel than OEM. This allows even aggressively lowered cars to maintain enough bump travel. The wide damping sweep allows the driver to adjust to soft settings for street driving or very firm and tightly controlled for competition. This wide damping adjustment range means tight, competition level control on the firm settings and plush, buttery ride on the way home from the track or auto-x. All with a simple turn of the damping adjustment knob. High valving sensitivity produces both incredible grip and exceptional ride quality over any paved surface. Tiny ripples or big whoops, Xidas soak it up and keep the car planted.

Spring rate options
Race 616/392 (11/7k) – Track / auto-x focused. Tightly controlled and very firm street ride, never harsh.

Race Notes: If focused mainly on street and canyon driving, use a 1″ front sway bar with OEM rear. If focused on auto-x or HPDE with 245 or smaller tires, 1 to 1-1/8″ front and 16mm rear.
If 255 or wider Super200 tires focused on maximum grip, 32mm front and 16mm rear.
Race kits ship with spherical bearing style rear mounts for increased precision
Functional Race ride height range with 255/40/17 25.0″ tall tires: 130mm ~ 145mm pinch weld height

Touring 280/224 (5/4k)– Maximum street comfort, occasional auto-x or HPDE. 100% less boat.
Touring Notes: Big sway bars reduce ride quality. For Street use, best with OEM sway bars. The Xidas will greatly reduce body roll and improve sharpness vs. OEM. If in doubt, try them first on stock sway bars. 1″ aftermarket front and stock rear if using 240tw+ for the occasional auto-x or track day. Don’t use a bigger rear sway bar with Touring springs.
Touring kits ship with bushing style rear mounts to reduce NVH.
Functional Touring ride height range with 215/45/17 to 235/40/17 24.5″ tall tires: 135mm ~ 155mm pinch weld height

Fully assembled
NC Xida ship fully assembled and ready to install. Front and rear Supermiata billet coaxial mounts. No need to re-use any parts from your current shocks or mounts.
Touring rear uses urethane rear isolators in mount. Race rear uses spherical bearings in mount.

Tire Clearance

245 or narrower on 9″ +45 or higher offset should clear the fenders at full bump
If your current wheel/tire combo is 255 or wider, or 9.5″ wheel it might overlap the fender instead of tucking behind the lip. If your tires don’t fit your fenders, you will need to limit shock travel by adding our optional travel limiter clips. Rolling and pulling fenders might allow a borderline set up to fit. We don’t recommend using travel limiters on Xidas. We worked really hard making Xidas awesome with all that travel and want you to enjoy the benefits of that work. We recommend finding a way to make your tires tuck behind the fender lip so you can use all available travel.

Might require travel limiters, check first:
– 255 or wider tire
– 9.5″ or wider wheels
– 9″ wheels below +35 offset

Optional Travel Limiters – click here

If you ask us if your setup will need limiters or flares we can’t know for sure because there are so many variables; alignment, tire brand, wheel offset, wheel width, etc. Only way to know for sure is for you to remove/disconnect your current shock/sway bar and push the tire up inside the fender to see if it clears.

Adjusting shocks to reduce tire contact
Don’t. Adjusting the shock damping to full stiff and choosing stiffer spring rates than you really need, does not eliminate a tire clearance problem. It only makes tire/fender interference happen less often.  It only takes one big bump to detroy your tires and fenders if you are relying on that solution. Besides not actually eliminating the problem, now your suspension performance is compromised because of the poor setup. Compliance is the secret to grip. Either your tires fit or they don’t. “They fit if I take bumps real slow” is not a solution. We want you to have fun and not bottom tires or suspension harshly. Make your tires fit!

1 review for NC XIDA coilover 06-15 Miata MX5

I love these coilovers. I was a bit hesitant to spend the money on them but I’d rather buy these than something half the price and wish I just bought the Xidas to begin with. I paired these with progressive sway bars and, at least on NC roads, the suspension in the softest setting works great for daily driving. At autocross these things really shine. Easy to adjust stiffness quickly and the difference is massive. Build quality is fantastic too. My wife had a minor accident and hopped a curb but these took the abuse well. Nothing appears to be broken or damaged at all. Great quality and great adjustability, can’t recommend these enough!
